IMBA REP AND SELECT PROGRAMS

The IMBA is extremely proud of the growth of our organization, including our player development emphasis which has resulted in a still growing, but very competitive Rep and Select program across multiple age divisions.   Jump to your specific area of interest below:

2019 Key Program Highlights

• The IMBA had 11 Select/Rep teams in 2019 (7 Rep and 4 Select) spanning from 7U to 18U
• 110+ players participated on these teams for the 2019 season
• Our Rookie Select team won the YSBA's and finished 2nd at the OBA's!
• All of our Rep and Select Teams participate in Winter Training, typically beginning in November.  Each team will have guaranteed time in a gym once per week to work out together over the winter leading up to the outdoor season in May.
• Partnership with Mind to Muscle, a leading athletic training and sports medicine facility in Barrie.  Our Rep and Select players will have access to high performance training, as well as priority medical access for sports injury

Select Program

The Select program is intended as a bridge for developing players between House League and Rep level play.  Select is more competitive than House League play, but less so than Rep Level play.  Select teams are operated in much the same way as Rep teams in that the coaches are typically more experienced, there is a team manager, fundraising is required to cover additional team related costs (eg. tournaments, incremental training, etc.), there is a tryout process, and players are expected to participate in Winter Training with their team.  

Our Select teams participate in the YSBA Loop (York Simcoe Baseball Association) so there is travel throughout Simcoe and York Region for away games, as well as tournaments.  Select teams typically practice twice during the week in-season, with games predominantly on weekends.

We would encourage all players who are developing in our house league program to tryout for Select as a first step towards Rep level play.

Rep Program

The Rep program is our highest level of play in Innisfil.  Rep baseball is the most competitive level of play we offer in Innisfil at this time (currently we do not offer Elite teams).  Within Rep there are different levels of competition from A ball to AAA ball (most competitive level of players).  Our rep team players can expect more experienced coaches (There are OBA coaching requirements in place), a team manager, fundraising activities to cover additional team-related costs (eg. tournaments, incremental training, etc.), a tryout process, and participation in Winter Training with their team.  

Our Rep teams participate in the YSBA Loop (York Simcoe Baseball Association) so there is travel throughout Simcoe and York Region for away games, as well as tournaments.  Rep teams typically practice twice a week during the season with at least one game per week (typically weekdays).  Most rep teams participate in 2-4 tournaments per year as well as the end of season playoffs.

Rep and Select Tryouts (2021 Tryout Registration is Open - Click here to Register)

Innisfil Minor Baseball holds our Rep and Select Tryouts in September of each year (upon conclusion of the current season).  Select and Rep coaches are typically selected in August each year.  Tryout schedules will typically be posted on our website by the end of August of each season.  The IMBA charges a  tryout fee for each player trying out (2021 tryout fee is reduced to just $10).   All players MUST register online for the tryouts.  Once you have paid your tryout fee, you are eligible to participate in any of our tryouts. If you are from another baseball center (not residing in Innisfil) and wish to tryout for one of our rep teams, please ensure you aware of the YSBA release policy at your age group.

Costs

Registration fees for Select and Rep teams are significantly higher than for our house league program due to increased operational costs (additional diamond time, tournaments, higher quality uniforms, winter training, association fees, etc.).

Typically costs range from around $450 for 7U up to around $750 for 18U

In addition, there are typically additional costs associated with being on a Rep or Select team which are usually funded through team-related sponsorship and fundraising.
