How do I become a coach?

  • Our Coaches are our most valuable asset.   Without these valuable community volunteers stepping up to coach and lead these teams, we would not be able to offer baseball to the kids in our community.  It can be intimidating, especially for those who have never coached before – but the IMBA is committed to supporting and providing resources to our coaches.  See below how you can contribute to the success of our league and community.   If you are interested in becoming a coach with Innisfil Minor Baseball please send a note to director.coach@innisfilbaseball.com
House League Teams
  • When you register your child to play online, on the season registration form you will be asked if you are interested in coaching.  Subsequently, you will be contacted by our Director of House League or Director of Coaching to fill out a coaching registration form (which will provide some further details), and to inform you of the various requirements (eg. Vulnerable Sector Screening Check).
Rep and Select Teams
  • The IMBA is committed to providing quality level coaching for our higher performing players.  If you are interested in becoming a head coach in our select or rep program, you will need to apply and go through an interview with the IMBA Coach selection committee.  Please note there are certain NCCP certification requirements to be a head coach at the Select or Rep level (see here for more details).  Typically, the IMBA will start accepting Rep & Select head coach applications in August of each year (Tryouts and team formation occur in September/October).

When do you hold Rep and Select Team tryouts?

  • The IMBA’s Rep and Select teams typically hold tryouts beginning in Mid-September until early October.  If you are interested, please ensure you visit our website in Mid-August when we will post specific times for the tryouts, or sign up to our IMBA e-newsletter so you will be notified.  There is typically a $20 one-time tryout fee.  If you are residing in another community and wish to tryout for Innisfil’s Rep program, you will need a player release from your current organization before trying out.  Please ensure you take this into account far enough in advance of the tryouts.
