April 29th Toronto Blue Jays took on the Houston Astros
Beautiful day for a group of IMBA members to catch a Blue Jays game at Rogers Centre
April 29th the Blue Jays took on the Houston Astros in a high scoring 11-7 defeat. A coach bus was arranged to pick up at Innisfil Recreation Centre and provide transportation to 56 IMBA family and friends. Games and special prizing were created during the trip to keep kids involved along with a brief introduction so kids could familiarize themselves with potential teammates or friends for the upcoming ball season.
TJ Bus provided the coach transportation which was comfortable and clean. Traffic congestions made the initial trip require close to 2 hours to reach Rogers Centre. The bus reached the stadium well in time before first pitch and a few lucky individuals were able to receive warm up balls from players on the field.
The stadium atmosphere was electrifying especially when Vlad Guerrero Jr. hit a 3-run bomb to tie the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the third. Our group was less than 30 feet away from where the ball landed in the 100 level seats after hitting the 200-level deck. Lots of popcorn, hotdogs, pizza, and peanuts kept everyone’s appetite at bay. Parents were happy to be situated close to the $5 beer stands.
After a tough but entertaining loss the trip home was comfortable and quiet as most people enjoyed resting their eyes on the return trip to Innisfil Recreation Centre. Our return time was shortly after 12:00am.
This was our first special event since the COVID pandemic restrictions have been lifted and we plan on providing future events for teams, players, coaches, and family to get involved. With larger group sizing we can receive discounted tickets with 50 or more attendees.
Special thanks to everyone who made it out for this event. If you are interested being involved in future events, please respond to survey questionnaires when they are available. You may also consider making special request for fun activities which you would like to see hosted for future events.
