Congratulations Minor Peewee AA
2018-08-13Innisfil Cardinals Minor Peewee AA are YSBA Champions!
The Innisfil Minor Peewee AA team continued its strong tournament play at the YSBA playoffs on the weekend of August 10-12. The Cardinals went 4-0 with a combined score of 46-15 for the weekend. Excellent pitching and defense, and timely hitting were on display in all four games.
Game 1 saw the Cards exact some revenge for a bad beating at the hands of the Newmarket Hawks earlier in the week, by thrashing them 16-6. Jacob "Windsor" Pruitt led the way, going 3 for 3 by crushing three doubles and being voted game MVP.
Game 2 was the toughest match of the weekend as the Cards went up against the Vaughan Vikings, who dominated the regular season in losing only two games all season. It was a real back-and-forth, hard-fought affair with the Cards hanging onto a narrow 8-7 victory. Ben "The Jet" Loevenmark was voted game MVP for his terrific play behind the plate.
In Game 3, the Cards went up against the Bolton Braves. They rode the arm of Johnny "JC" Liotta, who pitched a complete game shutout in being voted game MVP, and leading the team to a 10-0 victory.
Game 4 was a match-up against the host Richmond Hill Phoenix. Richmond Hill had no response for the Cards big bats in going through four pitchers, or the Cards big arm - Easton "Captain" Aldebert, who pitched a complete game in earning MVP honours. The Cards won with a dominating 12-2 victory to clinch the title of YSBA champions.
The Cards will now travel to Halton Hills on the Labour Day weekend play in the OBA provincial championships. Good luck!
